Can Man United qualify for Champions League if they finish 5th or 6th? Latest standings revealed

The two remaining Premier League sides in the Champions League - Arsenal and Manchester City - were both knocked out on Wednesday by Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively.

Thanks to a UEFA rule change before the season began, countries with the top two places in their coefficient rankings will get two additional slots. Teams finishing in the fifth and sixth places would be part of the competition.

That means Manchester United would have had a chance to still qualify for next season's Champions League, despite finishing outside the top four.

England is no longer favoured to finish among the top two sides in the coefficient rankings.

After Man City and Arsenal crashed out, England is now in third place. Italy and Germany, the two leading countries, will walk away with the two extra spots unless something changes drastically.

The Red Devils find themselves in seventh place, tied on 50 points with sixth-placed Newcastle United. The problem, however, is that the Magpies have a far superior goal difference (17) compared to Man United (-1).

Newcastle will easily remain in a higher position if they remain tied on the same number of points.
