‘He sent Dalot off against Liverpool’: Some Man United fans shocked by VAR referee appointed for FA Cup final

The PGMOL (Professional Games and Matches Officials Limited) have confirmed the team of referees for the FA Cup final against Man United and Man City.

Andy Madley has been appointed as the referee, but some of the Red Devils’ supporters are particularly annoyed with how Michael Oliver has been assigned as the VAR official.

Man City have only lost one of seven FA Cup games in which Oliver has acted as a referee. What makes this even more dubious is that earlier this season, Oliver had travelled to officiate a match in the UAE and get paid by the people who own Man City.

This has raised alarm bells among some Man United fans, who feel that the Cityzens might benefit from favourable decisions from VAR. Here is how they reacted to it on Reddit.

Otarun: “The UAE ref on VAR, City are going to get a really dodgy pen while we get f*** all.”

Titan4days: “Michael Oliver on VAR is dodgy af.”

Born_Reflection_43: “He was the one to sent Dalot off against Liverpool ... And wasn't he on VAR duty when City were gifted a penalty for a normal challenge by Hojlund on Rodri?”

ConcO2: “Oliver on VAR. Donezo.”

Techman710: “Oliver just gave Dalot another yellow for dissent. He said he thought he heard something.”
