Fernandes, Varane & more: Latest Man United injury updates and possible return dates before Arsenal clash

Man United’s injury crisis shows no signs of going away as we move into the final few matches of the 2023/24 season.

Erik ten Hag is still missing a number of important first-team players in his squad before the upcoming game against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

With that being said, let’s look at the latest updates on these injury doubts and when they can be expected to return.

The Man United captain missed the Crystal Palace due to a wrist injury. That really shouldn’t keep a fighter like him out for long and he’s expected to return against Arsenal.

Potential return date: May 12 (vs Arsenal)

Both Licha and Rashford have returned to first-team training. They have recovered from their respective injuries and will push to return on Sunday.

Potential return date: May 12 (vs Arsenal)

Erik ten Hag had claimed last month that Shaw should be back in action before the FA Cup final. He’s yet to return to training and will have to really push to get back in time.

Potential return date: May 25 (FA Cup final)

McTominay squashed scares over a possible long-term knee injury by indicating that he expects to play again this season. But whether he can return for the upcoming league games remains to be seen.

Potential return date: Mid-May

Varane is taking a lot of time to recover from the muscle injury he sustained in the loss to Chelsea in early April. He has yet to restart training and is another who must push to play in the FA Cup final.

Potential return date: May 25 (FA Cup final)

Maguire was the latest Man United player to get injured in training. The club claimed that he’ll recover in three weeks, meaning the centre-back will be touch-and-go for the FA Cup final.

Potential return date: Late May

Lindelof got injured in the draw to Brentford a few months ago, but his injury recovery process is going really slowly. Like Maguire, he’ll also have to fight really hard to feature again this season.

Potential return date: Late May

Kambwala sustained a mysterious knock in April and has not played since the draw against Bournemouth. There are still no updates on when he’ll be back.

Potential return date: Unknown

The Dutch defender is continuing his rehabilitation and preparing for the 2024/25 season, knowing he can’t play any minute in this campaign.

Potential return date: July
