Two Brighton supporters stabbed in Rome before Europa League tie

Brighton are set to face AS Roma in their first-ever UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash, with the first leg happening on Thursday (March 7).

However, ahead of the game, two Brighton supporters were stabbed in Rome the night before the game after travelling to the city to watch their team.

As per Sky Sports, the two Englishmen who are both in their 20s, were attacked shortly after midnight as six and seven masked men surrounded them in Via Cavour near the Colosseum.

Apart from being stabbed, the wallets and phones of the two supporters were also stolen in the aftermath of the attack.

The older fan, 27, suffered three stab wounds to one of his legs and the young fan received two stab wounds – both are being treated in the hospital right now.

The Police have confirmed to be on the lookout for the attackers and also promised that 100 officers will be deployed to avoid tensions during the Europa League clash.
