Tuchel confirms Bayern exit: 'This is my last press conference'

Thomas Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich despite the club's attempt to keep him.

"This is my last press conference as FC Bayern manager," said Tuchel, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. "There were talks [about staying], but we didn't reach an agreement… so the decision of February still stands."

Back in February 2024, Tuchel and FC Bayern announced the decision to part ways in the summer. However, the club failed to find a replacement in the three months that followed as coaches rejected Bayern left and right.

Xabi Alonso was quick to commit to Bayer Leverkusen, Julian Nagelsmann to Germany and Ralf Rangnick to Austria. Bayern got so desperate they reached out to Crystal Palace for Oliver Glasner, only to be told they had to pay €100m for their head coach.

For the lack of options, Bayern tried to reverse the original decision and persuade Tuchel to stay. However, the coach will stick to his word.

The 50-year-old didn't enjoy a prolific spell at the helm of the club, only winning one Bundesliga trophy, and even that, some might say, was thanks to a fundamental collapse from Borussia Dortmund.

However, Tuchel did guide the team to a Champions League semifinal and Bayern were on the brink of making the final until Joselu happened.
