Iran were rated as major Asian Cup favourites before the start and it's safe to say they have been living up to expectations so far.
Three wins out of three group stage games were delightful but in the knockout stages, they had a hard time beating Syria with only ten players on the pitch.
Against Japan, Iran were the first to concede but, surprisingly, they looked much more confident than against Syria. Interestingly, Iran's first sub came in the 6th minute of added time.
Qatar
Qatar are one of those few teams at this year's Asian Cup that managed to win three out of three at the group stage. Moreover, them and Thailand are the only teams to have kept a clean sheet in all three games.
In the playoffs, not conceding was a tougher task: Qatar beat Palestine 2-1 and drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan before beating them on penalties.
