Hugo Lloris rejected the move to Spurs' Premier League rivals

Hugo Lloris has turned down an opportunity to join Newcastle, according to talkSPORT sources. The veteran goalkeeper, who has been with Tottenham for a long time, is eager to leave the club this summer. However, he has declined offers from other Premier League teams, including Newcastle.

The Magpies had shown interest in the World Cup-winning goalkeeper as a backup option for England's Nick Pope. But Lloris is reportedly only interested in moving to a team where he can be the first-choice goalkeeper.

With his rejection of Eddie Howe's team, Lloris may be exploring other options. His former club, Nice, where he began his career, are known to be interested in him.

They also have an opening, as former Premier League-winning goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was released as a free agent on deadline day.

Lloris, who is 36 years old, played 78 matches for Nice in various competitions before joining Lyon in 2008. With just one year remaining on his contract at Spurs, he is not inclined to sign a new deal.
