Neymar's father 'transfers €150,000' to Spanish courts – this could help reduce Dani Alves' prison sentence

Neymar's father 'has transferred €150,000' to Spanish courts to assist in Dani Alves' defence, report UOL's Pedro Lopes, Talyta Vespa and Thiago Arantes.

The payment is described as a 'mitigating compensation for damage caused'. The amount could help reduce the Brazilian's prison sentence if he is convicted.

You may wonder why a rich player like Dani Alves needed this money. It is explained that the former Barca player had his assets blocked after the breakup with his ex-wife, Dinorah Santana. To fix this, the player reportedly appointed Gustavo Xisto, one of the oldest legal representatives of Neymar Sr.'s companies, as his attorney-in-fact.

The Blaugrana legend is accused of sexual assault that allegedly took place at a Barcelona night club on December 30, 2022. He is also the target of a lawsuit for non-payment of alimony.

Dani was placed in custody without bail until his trial is resolved. The decisive trial is set to take place in early February.

The 40-year-old suspiciously changed testimony in court five times. All facts of the case don't seem to favour him and it looks likely that he will be sentenced to 9 years in prison.
