Maatsen to Dortmund 'moving to final stages' — Romano

"Ian Maatsen on loan to Borussia Dortmund from Chelsea, moving to the final stages. BVB expect to get it done this week," Fabrizio Romano tweeted.

The journalist said on Sunday that the Bundesliga side made a formal bid to sign the Dutchman on loan.

It's not clear at the moment whether the agreement, if reached, would include an option or an obligation to buy. Initial reports about Dortmund's interest claimed that they want the left-back to move on a permanent transfer but may not have enough funds.

The 21-year-old has failed to establish himself as a starter at the Bridge, starting only one Premier League game so far. He's played 376 minutes across 15 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea so far this term.
