AS Monaco are not giving up hope of signing Folarin Balogun before the transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail.

The Ligue 1 side are set to come back with an improved offer after their first bid fell below Arsenal's asking price of £50 million.

The 22-year-old, who is currently nursing a small injury, has been training with the Gunners all summer, awaiting a decision on his future.

Mikel Arteta is said to be open to keeping Balogun beyond August 31 but the manager can not guarantee the young striker a place in the starting XI.
