Man United eyeing strong competition for Luke Shaw with new left-back signing (reliability: 5 stars)

Man United have experienced major problems in their left-back position all throughout the 2023/24 season.

The Red Devils have been having to rotate between Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both right-backs, to play there over the last few months.

That is because Sergio Reguilon was sent back to Tottenham Hotspur mid-way through his loan spell, because the club felt that Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia would be fit. They didn’t, and Shaw suffered another injury in February.

As per Fabrizio Romano, this embarrassing situation has forced the club to make it a priority to invest in a new left-back in the summer.

Man United’s idea is to bring in a quality new left-back who will play an important role going forward, irrespective of whatever happens to Shaw or Malacia.

This means that they might be planning to bring major competition for the Englishman, who just can’t seem to stay free of injuries.

Shaw has only made 15 appearances for Man United this season, while Malacia has not played a single minute of football due to injuries.
