According to Fabrizio Romano, Man United are expected to be busy in terms of strengthening their defensive core in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are planning to sign at least one centre-back in the summer and this could increase to two if Raphael Varane leaves.
For now, Man United haven’t offered a new contract to the Frenchman and he is likely to depart after his contract expires after June.
Erik ten Hag’s side has been scouting players who can be an ideal fit for the team and are mostly looking at signing young centre-backs.
The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, Jean-Clair Todibo, Gleison Bremer and Benfica man Antonio Silva have all been scouted by the club. With that being said, the club are aware that neither of these players are available for cheap and it won’t be easy to two of them together.
This comes as Man United have been tormented by injuries to centre-backs all season long, with Lisandro Martinez missing a chunk of the 2023/24 campaign due to injuries.
