Premier League managers push for tougher rules to make getting fired more difficult

Premier League managers are reportedly advocating for new rules that would make it more challenging for clubs to part ways with them. According to a Sun report, these leading managers are proposing a regulation that would limit sackings to the transfer windows.

Drawing parallels with player transfers, the idea is to restrict managerial changes to the summer and winter transfer periods. Experienced Premier League managers are rallying behind this cause, expressing concerns that the current system allows for too-easy dismissals.

An anonymous manager emphasized the need for rules similar to players, stating, "Players have contracts and rules that mean they are not moved outside of the windows. It should be the same for us."

In the 2022-23 season, 12 managers faced the axe, with Chelsea and Leeds parting ways with two managers each. This season, the departure rate has slowed, with just three managers sacked.

Notably, Bournemouth, Sheffield United, and Nottingham Forest made managerial changes, while Jurgen Klopp is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Championship has witnessed six sackings already, highlighting a different trend. League One and League Two have experienced higher turnover, signalling decreased owner patience compared to the past.
