Barca icon restarts player career at 58 – Johan Cruyff called him greatest footballer he ever coached

Legendary Romario has resumed his player career at 58 years of age!

The Brazilian signed for his childhood club America Rio de Janeiro while also being their president.

The striker brilliantly explains his decision to play football again.

"I play whenever I want, I leave whenever I want. If the coach doesn't like it, I fire him. If a player doesn't pass the ball to me, I fine him," he jokes.

The real reason behind Romario's comeback was his desire to play together with his son, 30-year-old Romarinho.

Romario earns a minimum allowed salary at America which he returns to the club as a donation. He also isn't expected to take part in any league matches.

The Brazilian icon played for Barcelona from 1993 to 1995, having scored 39 goals and provided 11 assists in 65 matches. Johan Cruyff, his coach at the time, defined the striker as a 'genius of the penalty area' and the greatest player he ever managed.
