Last summer Real Madrid paid €45m to sign Endrick Felipe from Palmeiras. The fee could rise to €60m depending on how the player performs.
However, the player's agent Pena claims Real Madrid entered the race for the 16-year-old striker because they were still thinking of what happened between them and Neymar.
“Real Madrid decided that they were never going to miss another talent like Vinicius or Endrick after Neymar moved to Barcelona,” Pena told the Telegraph.
Recall that Neymar had gone to Real Madrid for trials during his teenage years but his parents decided he was too young to move to such a big club. Neymar would later join Barca years later in a move that probably left Real Madrid green with envy.
Real Madrid's determination to poach top talents before Barca was also shown last summer when they went all out to sign Turkish sensation Arda Guler. The 18-year-old was already in talks with Barca via Deco.
Still, Barca have managed to get their way and sign some remarkable young talents like Vitor Roque, Mikayil Faye and Noah Darvich. And let's not forget what La Masia produces on a yearly basis.
