'Spent €30m on Roque for his birth certificate instead': Some Cules regret not signing one recent free agent

Some Barcelona fans are unhappy that the club didn't go for Marcus Thuram who was a free agent last summer.

The forward has been absolutely on fire for Inter Milan, scoring 12 goals and delivering 11 assists in 33 appearances for the Serie A side so far.

💭 Ketna1995: "Kinda shame that we didn't go for Marcus Thuram last summer when he was free."

💭 Rain: "Barca were in for Thuram on a free but chose to spend 30 million on Roque just because of his birth certificate. If Roque was Zimbabwean, we wouldn't have gotten him."

💭 Barca Marvel: "By the way, can we talk about bad sports planning now? Grimaldo and Marcus Thuram offered themselves in the summer – look what they do this season. In their place, we brought Oriol and Joao Felix. FAILURE."

💭 Romulus: "There was Ndicka for free, Thuram and even Grimaldo, and Barca fumbled it all."

Marcus Thuram is an advanced forward who can easily play close to the left wing – sounds like exactly what we need this summer, but it's too late already.

Lilian Thuram, the player's father who played for Barca, once revealed his son's dream of joining Blaugrana one day. They clearly weren't against the move.

There are no guarantees that the 26-year-old would've fared well at Barca, though. As a fan that closely follows Borussia Monchengladbach, the Frenchman's former club, I can note that Marcus is pretty much dependent on an exciting project and has swings of mood, just like Joao Felix. He's not too active at pressing and can be lazy sometimes too.
