Chelsea loanee Hutchinson wins Championship POTM award — here are his stats

Things might not be doing well at Chelsea but at least we know that the Blues have a lot of talented youngsters to rely upon.

One of them is Omari Hutchinson who is currently on loan with Ipswich Town. The 20-year-old has been named the Championship Player of the Month for February.

The Jamaica international was in a red-hot form last month. He made six appearances in the Championship, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Ipswich are currently second in the standings, three points behind leaders Leicester.

“I’m very happy, this is my first award in men’s football so I’m grateful,” Hutchinson told Ipswich's official website after claiming the accolade.

“There’s a lot of players that could have won it, a lot of top talent but I was happy to be chosen.

“Everyone has helped me on the journey. This is my first season in men’s football, so I didn’t know what to expect. I think this season so far has been successful and to be playing in front of the Ipswich fans week in and week out is a dream come true.”

Hutchinson began his football education at Chelsea aged five but was released twice as a kid. As a result, he trained with the Charlton and Arsenal academies and signed a professional contract with the Gunners in 2020.

In 2022, Chelsea bought the forward back for an undisclosed fee. He made his first-team debut for the Blues last season.

Omari has featured in 34 league games for Ipswich on loan, scoring five goals and providing four assists so far.
