Chelsea stance on appointing Mourinho as head coach revealed (reliability: 5 stars)

Jose Mourinho is a free agent after Roma sacked him in the middle of January. However, he's not coming back to Chelsea any time soon.

That's according to the Evening Standard, who claim that the Blues are 'not expected' to approach the Portuguese over a head coach position.

'The Special One' was not considered for the Chelsea job last year when a long-term successor to Graham Potter was being picked. The Blues do not see the 61-year-old as a proper fit for the club's current project.

It it also claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is not under the threat of immediate sacking. Chelsea do not want the repeat of last year's situation when the dismissal of Potter plunged the Blues into even worse crisis compared to the time when the Englishman was in charge.

However, the Argentine might get the sack after the end of the season as Todd Boehly & Co. will hold a review of the team's progress under Poch.
