Ian Maatsen wins Bundesliga award after one month at Dortmund - he barely played for Pochettino

Ian Maatsen has won the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Month award for January. The accolade recognises the best youngster in the division in the given month.

The 21-year-old has had a firing start to life at Borussia Dortmund, providing two assists in five appearances. The Dutchman has clocked more minutes (450) in five games in the Bundesliga than at Chelsea for six months (376).

Maatsen runs 11.6km per game on average and reached a top speed of 35.1 km/h, the third-fastest in the division.

The left-back signed for Dortmund on a £2m six-month loan. He also penned a new contract with Chelsea which sets his release clause at £35m. Dortmund are reportedly interested in keeping him beyond the summer.
