- Former Chelsea midfielder and coach Eddie Newton has become the manager of Turkish side Trabzonspor, the club's official Twitter account confirms.
- The 48-year-old was the caretaker manager since his predecessor Huseyin Cimsir left the club last month.
- In his second game in charge, Newton led Trabzonspor to a 2-0 win over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Cup final.
- This is the first senior job for Newton who had spent eight years in the Chelsea system.
- In 2012, he was Roberto di Matteo's assistant who played an important role in the triumphant Champions League run.
- This is why Frank Lampard included Newton in his staff at the start of the season; however, Newton chose to pursue his career elsewhere in February 2020.
