Shirt numbers available to Willian at Arsenal as Gunners close in on signing Brazilian

Some pundits talk about Willian's move to the Emirates as if it has already happened.

While there has been no official confirmation yet, it appears as if the Brazilian will become a Gunner soon.

Which squad number can he take at Arsenal? Let's find out.

The 31-year-old has previosly worn four different jersey numbers: 10, 22, 88 and 19 (for Brazil only).

The winger said that the No 10 is his favourite. At Arsenal, Mesut Ozil currently holds it and it looks unlikely the World Cup winner will be offloaded in the summer. Hence, no ten for Willian at the moment.

22 belongs to Pablo Mari and Nico Pepe plays with a 19 on his back.

Number 6 is currently available but it's normally reserved for defenders or holding midfielders.

Number 8 makes a lot of sense but it's probably going to go to Dani Ceballos in case he signs for the Gunners again. The Spaniard wore it during the 2019/20 campaign.

What we have left are 12, 13, 18 and 27 before we go into rare numbers starting with 36 and beyond.

Of these, 88 could be an option but Willian wore it seven years ago when he played for Anzhi in the Russian Premier League.

However, this does not include potential departures from the Emirates. 29 (Guendouzi), 24 (Nelson), 20 (Mustafi), 16 (Holding), 15 (Maitland-Niles) and 11 (Torreira) could become available if one of these players is sold.
