Do u remember the first player that inherited the Jersey number 7 when Ronaldo left, Diaz sitting on the bench, Ansu Fati inherited that of Messi. One thing about Spanish football is they don't honor players by retiring their jerseys or keep it for who is fit to wear it. there are rules for the numbers of all first team players to be 1-25. The only reason Benzema's 9 was because he left unexpectedly, so there was no plan on ground and Joselu arrived late. If this was Italian football, Even number 5 will be retired after Zidane so also Ronaldo and Modric but this is spain, Legends don't get the honor they deserve

I doubt if fiorentino will keep Modric and even if he does, Modric might not enjoy his football. we have seen how unhappy he can be when he's not playing and u can't blame him for that bcos he's still got it. I just feel his situation might get worse by next season if he doesn't leave now. On my part, I really want him to stay bcos he has proven many times to be a game changer and i believe if he stays, there's no way the board will ask him to hand over his jersey to Mbappe. Modric is a legend of the club and we just can’t give his jersey number to someone else no matter who or how big that player is unless maybe he himself willfully give it out to him. If Madrid wants to give the number 10 to Mbappe then I suggest we don’t renew Modric contract and we let him go because it will be quite disrespectful to snatch Modrics jersey number from him and give it to someone else . Mbappe will take Number 9 as long as Modric is still in the club. Endrick will wear either number 19 or 29 to book for number 9 when Modric leave the club and Mbappe wear the number 10.... Modric is a living Legend, we've to respect him
