Having previously played together at Fenerbahce, Mesut Ozil knows Arda Guler well. And, despite struggling to get regular minutes under Carlo Ancelotti, ex-Real Madrid midfielder backs the young talent to succeed at Bernabeu,
The Turkish youngster has racked up a total of 100 minutes of playing time since arriving from Super Lig on a 20-million-euro deal in the summer – partly due to tough competition in the squad and his own struggles with fitness.
Nonetheless, Ozil believes Guler's time will come.
"I know him very well. He was like my little brother when we both played at Fenerbahçe. Everyone knows his talent; that’s why I don’t want to praise him too much and put more pressure on him.
“All I want is for him to have patience. I’m sure his time will come. He is still very young. He can learn a lot in each training session, surrounded by world-class players.
"Patience," he concluded.
