Andriy Lunin is having a fantastic season. The Ukrainian appeared to lose his no. 1 position to Kepa Arrizabalaga in autumn but a string of 10/10 performances means that he's definitely a starter now.
However, Thibaut Courtois is expected back in April and Lunin is expected to return to the bench. The 25-year-old's contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2025.
Marca report that both parties are taking the contract situation calmly. They have decided to begin negotiations over a new deal after the end of the current season.
Courtois' return — and Lunin's game time after it — is expected to be a big factor in the talks.
The Ukrainian is among the world's best goalkeepers by numbers this season. Marca report is that Andriy's save rate is better than the likes of Allison, Ederson, Szczesny and Donnarumma.
