Carlo Ancelotti is not interested in rotating his squad for the Madrid derby later on Thursday night, multiple sources say.
There are two reasons why Ancelotti maintains this stance.
Firstly, this is a knockout game and Real Madrid are taking the game pretty seriously considering the opponent can be quite tough to play against.
Ancelotti is serious about retaining the Copa Del Rey title he won last season.
Secondly, Ancelotti is targeting the league game against Almeria to rest some of his players. Real Madrid's key players have expended a lot of energy in the Super Cup this week and deserve some rest. A few of them will get it next week against Almeria.
Sources say Ancelotti will bench Rodrygo for Brahim Diaz in the game against Atleti after the Brazilian suffered muscle fatigue in the aftermath of El Clasico.
Real Madrid beat Atleti 5-3 last week in extra time in the Super Cup semi-final.
