'My pregnant wife almost gave birth watching the final': Carvajal reacts to winning first title with Spain

"My wife is 36 weeks pregnant, she told me she almost gave birth because of this match! All my family were all very nervous," Dani Carvajal said after the UEFA Nations League final.

"I understand what they must have felt, but the story has ended perfectly," the defender added.

Carvajal came off the bench to score the decisive penalty as Spain defeated Croatia to lift the Nations League with a 5-4 shootout win.

This was also Carvajal's first senior trophy for the Spain national team. The Real Madrid right-back has previously enjoyed success as a champion in both under-19 and under-21 levels but never as a senior player.
