Karim Benzema was one of the French players invited by president Emmanuel Macron to attend the World Cup final between France and Argentina on Sunday.
However, the Real Madrid striker has refused the invitation, Le Parisien report.
N'Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Presnel Kimpembe, who were omitted from the squad due to injuries, have accepted the invitation.
Benzema left France's camp in Qatar as he suffered an injury days before the start of the tournament. However, Karim was not excluded from the squad list and will receive a silver or gold medal, depending on the outcome of the final.
Despite this, the 34-year-old will not be present at Lusail for the final. As per prior rumours, the main reason for it is his tense relationship with coach Didier Deschamps.
