‘He was gone. But we got him back’: Denmark’s team doctor on how they saved Christian Eriksen's life

In a press conference on Sunday, Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen revealed: "He [Christian Eriksen] was gone.

"We started the resuscitation and we managed to do it. How close were we to losing him?

"I don’t know, but we got him back after one defib [defibrillation], so that’s quite fast."

At the end of the first half of the clash between Denmark and Finland, the Inter attacking midfielder collapsed.

He received chest compressions by medics on the pitch as the Euro 2020 game was interrupted and resumed only a few hours afterwards.

The 29-year-old was taken to a hospital where his condition stabilised.
