Robinho's appeal rejected as ex-Madrid star sentenced to 9-year jail for ‘brutally humiliating gang-rape victim’

The Milan court of appeals has upheld the initial 2017 verdict that sentenced Robinho to a 9-year jail.

The court has ruled that the Brazilian and his friend “belittled” and "brutally humiliated" an Albanian woman in Milan 8 years ago at a nightclub when he was on the books of Rossoneri.

The 37-year-old has 45 days to submit a further appeal to the Supreme Court of Cassation, his last legal option in Italy.

In October of 2020, the forward signed a contract with his boyhood club Santos, which was suspended 4 days after the move due to the public outcry.

It should be noted that with Robinho residing in his homeland he's unlikely to be imprisoned as Brazil doesn't extradite its own citizens.
