Erik ten Hag was questioned if he has fears about Man United missing out on European football itself in the 2024/25 season after the 1-1 draw against Burnley.
He answered: “I never give negative scenarios. We have two opportunities, one in the Premier League and the other one is we have the FA Cup final.
“The facts are we can't get fourth position when we're so far behind. Conceding penalties, very debatable, against Chelsea, Liverpool and today again, that is seven points. It's too much, especially at this stage of the season.”
The Red Devils would have to finish as low as eighth place to not qualify for any UEFA competitions next season, while a seventh place finish would get them to the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Man United can secure qualification for the UEFA Europa League by finshing in the top-6 or by winning the FA Cup final against Man City – with Champions League qualification now being impossible.
