'Job too big’, ‘Not his fault’: Man United fans split over Ten Hag's future after missing out on UCL qualification

Man United were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Burnley, which officially ended the Red Devils’ ambitions of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Aston Villa are now way ahead of the Red Devils in the top-4 race, meaning Erik ten Hag’s side can only aspire for a top-6 finish now and the FA Cup title to play for.

There are persistent questions being asked about the future of Erik ten Hag, with the club’s hierarchy reportedly set to make a decision on him after the season is over.

However, when it comes to Man United fans, there is a real mixed view on whether he should be kept as the manager for next season or not.

Here is what a number of users on Tribuna had to say on Ten Hag’s future as Man United manager.

Abiola Ojo: “He can’t deliver, job too big for him.”

Clef: “why y'all only complaining 'bout injuries at United? Ain't Madrid dealing with like 36 injuries, and they out here winning trophies, making it to the CL semis, and sitting pretty at the top of the league. Rubbish!!!”

Susso Tamba: “Ten hag should go.”

Baba Baba Baba: “By now ETH should be packing his stuff anybody that want him to be manager of United is a big enemy tru out his tenure we don't hav style of play no formation whatsoever so I don't see any reason for him to comeback next season his a clueless manager not good enough for United period.”

Mark King: “It’s a really difficult one to answer when all things are considered. FFP ties us one way, terrible substitutions another. Then there is poor player performances to take into consideration and injuries. The upheaval the club itself is in and the fact that the Glazers are still at the helm no matter what Sir Jim has to say! Also who do you bring in? You can’t be serious about Potter and Southgate whose very mention brings on premonitions of doom. All these and the looming window which we so desperately need to be active in equals some very serious issues which all cannot be sorted out at once. We sack Ten

"I suppose we’ll be back to square one with a new manager wanting to bring in a his own choices, which because of the timing would mean we’d be virtually inactive in the window. Personally I’m sick of the subs he keeps making which are detrimental to the immediate goal which must be to win matches, but I can completely understand those who say we should give him another season on the strength of last season’s successes . I think we’ll end up keeping him to begin next season but if it’s more of the same… let’s see the list of possible replacements for Ten and bid him farewell.”

Petar Lykov: “I can't believe there are still fans moaning about the manager when the real problem is the players and the bad management of the people above. Let alone the fact that the Glazers ruined the club and all of a sudden everyone forgot about them and blame the manager for the shit season we have. He has done miracles last season and it does miracles this season considering all the rubbish he had to deal with on and off the pitch. Plus, you all big specialists - who you gonna change the manager with , Southgate? Touch grass and think twice before you say Ten Hag out!!!!”

Abdulla Kazim: “You guys weren’t saying that last season when he got us a trophy and top 4!!! This season we have to most injuries in pl with 61 injuries this season alone!! When the players were fit you guys saw how we were playing and how we used to win, we can’t do this every season by sacking a manger it became a ritual by now. A new manger comes in does amazing in his first season the next season the manger doesn’t do good and you guys say kick him out!!! When are we go to start blaming the players instead of the manger. This game we had so many chances but the players were missing how is that the managers fault ??? We should start blaming the players instead of the manger.”

Karim Ndaf: “Let ETH see his contract out and have a 3rd year. What's the picture of sacking managers every 2 years at Man U? Look at Arsenal. Arteta finished 8th in the leagues in his first 2 seasons. Now, they are competing for titles. At Man U, Arteta wouldn't stand a chance. ETH has to be backed. Eneos should set a proper football structure above him before demanding results.”
