'He dealt with it head-on': Jamie Carragher praises Ten Hag's handling of two players at Man United

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has been a staunch critic of Erik ten Hag throughout his spell as Man United manager.

However, in a recent episode of the Stick to Football podcast, the Englishman praised the Dutch gaffer handling of two Man United players and said: “I think they are the things I admire him [Ten Hag] on.

“I don’t think he has got them wrong at all. [Cristiano] Ronaldo had to be dealt with, and he dealt with it head-on. Sancho, the club looked after him for a couple of months with whatever was going on off the pitch

“I think he [Ten Hag] made a very small comment. Let’s be honest: he [Sancho] did nothing for Man United. £70/80 million, and he did nothing. He dealt with that when he stepped out of line.”

Ten Hag didn’t feel that Ronaldo fit his system and benched him, resulting in the Portuguese forward’s infamous interview with Piers Morgan after which he left the club.

Sancho, on the other hand, has refused to end his beef with the gaffer which began earlier this season and is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund – as he’s likely to be sold permanently in the summer transfer window after losing his role at Old Trafford.
