Martinez, Rashford & more: Potential return dates of 10 injured Man United players

Man United have six more matches to play in the 2023/24 season – which includes five in the Premier League and the FA Cup final against Man City.

Despite that, there are still quite a few injury issues that are restricting Erik ten Hag from being able to play his strongest XI.

Ahead of the upcoming game against Burnley at the weekend, we look at the 10 injured Man United first-team players and when they could return.

Mason Mount – vs Burnley (April 27)

Erik ten Hag seemingly hinted after the Sheffield United win that Mount should be back in the Man United squad for the game against Burnley, after missing the last few games due to a muscle injury.

Marcus Rashford – vs Burnley (April 27)

Rashford missed the last game due to a minor knock too, but isn’t expected to be out for that long. The Englishman is likely to make a return against Burnley itself, although he might not be fully fit enough to start.

Ten Hag couldn’t really give any promising update on Varane, who got injured in the loss to Chelsea earlier this month. It doesn’t seem like he’ll be fully fit for the Burnley game.

Jonny Evans – May

Similar to Varane, Evans is also not at all finding it easy to get fit for the final stretch of matches and is unlikely to return in time for the next game.

Lisandro Martinez & Victor Lindelof – vs Crystal Palace (6 May)

Man United hinted that both Martinez and Lindelof are likely to recover from their respective injuries in May. The two could make the squad for the game against Crystal Palace.

Luke Shaw – May

Shaw is reportedly in line to make his return in time to appear in the FA Cup final against Man City, even though his exact return date is still not clear.

Willy Kambwala – Unknown

Kambwala’s injury issue is still not specified, but he couldn’t make the game against Sheffield – hinting that it’s not a good one. There is still no guarantee on when he’ll be back.

When Martial underwent his groin injury in late January, Man United predicted him to be out for around three months. That is close to passing and Martial could be back to full fitness for the final few games, even though it remains to be seen if he’s used or not.

Malacia was recently seen working out in the gym and is slowly recovering from his injury issues. But he’s still not expected to play any more part this season and only be available from the 2024/25 pre-season.
