Erik ten Hag promotes Man United U-18 winger likened to Leo Messi to first-team training

Man United suffered even more injury issues in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool when Marcus Rashford had to be taken off after suffering a problem.

While the Englishman has since indicated that he will be okay, it appears that Erik ten Hag has promoted an exciting young talent to the first-team squad training to keep his options open.

That is because 16-year-old winger Shea Lacey was seen training with the senior players in the Red Devils’ recent training session.

Lacey is a talented winger who can play either as a right winger or left winger, even though he thrives on the right.

Shea has impressed a lot of fans with his performances for Man United’s under-18 side this season and was once labelled as the club’s ‘answer to Lionel Messi’ due to his exciting dribbling ability and goal-scoring techniques. At 5’7, he is also of a similar physical state as Leo was in his teenage years.

Lacey has scored two goals and provided four assists in eight appearances for the Red Devils’ youth team, and also scored three goals in five appearances for England U-17. It remains to be seen if he gets his first-team debut anytime soon.
