Wayne Rooney was asked whether his amazing bicycle kick goal against Man City in 2011 was better than the one Alejandro Garnacho scored against Everton earlier this season.
He told TNT Sports: “I've always said it's harder to score with your shin than your foot, harder technique to do so. Bit of both shin and foot. Garnacho's was better.
“A goals a goal, I think Rio is right, the technique on that is incredible. His was a better goal, better technique definitely, I think mine was the bigger goal.”
There could be a lot of debating over which goal was ‘technically’ better, but Garnacho’s one was hit from farther away from the goalpost than the English’s iconic strike against Man City.
The Argentine forward might not have scored in Man United's 2-0 win over the Merseyside team, but he did earn two vital penalties that helped the Red Devils secure all three points.
