Well, first of all, Arteta worked for years under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City which instantly would put off some fans given the bitter rivalry.

Secondly, Arteta's only claim to fame at Arsenal so far is guiding them to an almost Premier League win. He's won the FA Cup and the Community Shield twice so far.
