'No other way': Why Ratcliffe will sack Ten Hag after season's end

Upon buying his share in Man United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe assured everyone that Erik ten Hag's future is safe despite an underwhelming season.

However, the Red Devils remain in a state of crisis and there has been very little, if any, improvement recently. The 2-1 home defeat to Fulham highlighted the issues at Man United that have persisted under the Dutchman.

So a fan nicknamed Alpaca my Llama on Reddit suggests that Ten Hag's exit after the end of the season is inevitable.

"I don't see any other way other than INEOS moving EtH on in the summer. I think it would be a terrible look to persist with a manager who is underperforming so badly," the fan wrote.

"Yes, we have had setbacks this season. But my word, he's not rising above them in any way. And even many of those setbacks, you have to question him to an extent.

"Why are there so many injuries? Why are so many of our players falling out with a manager for the first time in their career? Why is the mentality of the squad so fragile, when you consider that it wasn't long ago that the majority of them had back-to-back top 3 finishes under Ole?

"Some act as if our squad is made up of absolute dross, who throw managers under the bus at the earliest opportunity. It's not true. We have established internationals all who would move to other big clubs, or at least some at a solid level.

"Even our defence yesterday. It was made up of Dalot (who has been consistently good and would be sought after), Maguire (who constantly plays for a strong England side), Varane (may be past his best but still one of the most accomplished players of his generation), albeit with a makeshift LB. Who is still a veteran international.

"You take all the defences we've put out this season and it should not be the team with the second most shots against it. It's maddening."
