Man United ready to push for Dan Ashworth appointment, ex-Man City director also in Ineos wishlist

According to Fabrizio Romano, Man United are now ready to push for the appointment of Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.

The Red Devils' representatives will intensify talks with Newcastle United after having already struck an agreement with the 52-year-old to join them.

The Magpies, however, will be wanting a significant compensation to let their director leave and Man United will insist on the negotiations to finalize an agreement.

Ineos wants to ensure that Ashworth can start his role as the club's sporting director immediately rather than serving a 'gardening leave' at Newcastle - basically like a notice-period.

With that being said, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his confidantes also have Southampton's director of football James Wilcox high on their wishlist.

Wilcox had worked with Omar Berrada at Man City as the club's academy director, and is credited for helping progress the careers of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis.

Sir JIm & co are looking to totally shake up the management structure at Man United to improve the recruitment methods and ensure that the club can start operating like a major one once again.
