Man United fans are itching to see Altay Bayindir in goal. With Andre Onana expected to travel for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Turkey international may finally get his chance.
Truth be told, the faithful don't know what to expect. But with Onana's unimpressive start so far, many would not really care. Here's what some Fenerbahce supporters think of him.
🗣️Data Science Rox: "He had a poor performance last season because of a few things. He played with an injury to his back and as his relationship with the fans got worse, so did his performances.
"There is a great keeper in him though. If he can regain his form you'll see that he's unbeatable in one one-on-ones. He also pulls off match-winning saves. Literally kept the team in the top 4 by himself when the rest of our defense was shit. Very curious to see how he does for you guys."
🗣️Teli Telo: "Apart from last year in which his performance dropped drastically, he is a goalkeeper who is a very good 1-1 stopper. He is quite mediocre on incoming crosses from the wings. His reflexes are very good and he is quite agile but his positioning and decisions can be poor. He is not very dominant in the box area and never showed that he is the boss of the box. He is good at passing. He can show 1-2 matches of extreme goalkeeping skills and then can get lost for more matches, and could make critical mistakes.
"About his mental side. So we were all praising how good he is on 1-1 positions then in 1-2 matches he caused penalties with bad timing and clumsy movements on 1-1 positions. He was criticised to death by our toxic fans and next matches this time he didn’t even move fearing to cause a penalty and conceded again. In the end, he lost confidence in his best skill.
"Overall he was a very promising, talented goalkeeper but didn’t improve much the last 2 years. He is still young though I am sure he will find a better training atmosphere at Manu."
🗣️Repulisve Act 3887: "You just need to support him no matter what. He is a good keeper but he has his flaws. He might concede some easy goals, but you have to back him up no matter what. Otherwise, he will lose himself mentally and he will get worse. He is a good gk. If you support him properly he has everything needed to be a golden second-choice keeper, if he improves maybe even first choice."
🗣️Ylnzkrt: " Maybe you get the impression from all the comments that he is mentally weak and can't take the pressure, but I don't think that's the case. His last year at Fenerbahçe was tough. Imagine you play for the team, you've supported as a kid and get booed a lot of matches. At some point, you can't take it anymore. The same happened with our actual coach Kartal. When he was our coach a few years ago, he also got booed and had tears in his eyes.
