Man United confirm Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 25% stake purchase

A club statement read: "Manchester United reaches agreement for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS, to acquire up to a 25% shareholding in the Company.

"The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and all parties are hopeful it will be completed as soon as possible."

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has now become a minority shareholder in the organisation and he's expected to control all football operations.

The INEOS founder, who is a lifelong Man United fan, has purchased the 25% stake for £1.3 billion.
