FT. Man United Women 2-2 Brighton W.F.C: LIVE blog, stats, ratings, reactions

90+8-90'11: Man United try their best to score a late winner but are unable to score past Brighton again. A thrilling end to a very entertaining WSL match, with Rachel Williams saving her side in the end. This will still feel like two points dropped for Marc Skinner's side, as Man United WFC fail to move closer to the top spot.

🤩98': GOOOOOALLLL! 2-2! RACHEL WILLIAMS SAVES MAN UNITED! A corner finds all the way to the back post to the super-sub, who scores from point-blank range.

JiggyESQ @Twitter: "Rachel Williams saves the day again … such a clutch player… we can’t keep doing comebacks it’s not sustainable."

🫤90'-90+7': Turner tries her very best to score from a few crosses but just can't guide her headers onto the goal.

Heylts_B @Twitter: "Bring on super sub Rachel Williams since you won’t play geyse as a winger and malard as a forward."

😑51'-57': Riviere becomes the second Man United player to be booked after a cynical foul.

ScottMUFC @Twitter: "Skinner has us playing hand grenade football ffs."

🤐46'-51': Geyse gets the ball in the box after a nice bit of trickery but her weak shot is easily saved.

HALF TIME SUMMARY

Man United Women started the game really well, putting Brighton W.F.C under pressure with their quick-fire attacks. However, the hosts grew in confidence after a shaky start and took the fight the United. Their relentless pressing worked out as Brighton stole the ball from Man United trying to play the ball out of the backline and allowed Elizabeth Tarlend to score.

Man United came very close to equalizing after that, with Geyse going close and hitting the bar. Former Man United keeper Sophie Baggaley made a string of impressive saves against her former side to frustrate them. Marc Skinner's side has to be more lethal to win this in the second half.

🤐44'-45+2': Man United are unable to get the equalizer after a crazy end to the first half. All to play for after the break!

Killua @Twitter: "That was broken gameplay from us . Hope we pace up the next half."

😱44': SO CLOSE! A cross from Toone almost creeps into the goal before it is saved. Turner's attempt on the rebound is also saved. Ugh.

AllforUnitedWFC @Twitter: "How. Have. We. Not. Scored."

😖41': Galton close! Jayde Riviere sends in a great cross into the middle but Leah Galton's header goes just over.

Lion-o @Twitter: "Missed chances, over hit crosses, & being offside.....that about sums up our half..... Soooo frustrating...."

35'-40': Geyse manages to get in behind the defence again but her cut-back cross is cleared away. Man United inching closer to an equalizer.

Garnachhy @Twitter: "A lot of these passes aren’t being thought through. Just passing and hoping someone gets on the end of it. Frustrating."

😱35': Geyse hits the bar! She is sent through on goal in a one-v-one with the keeper but her attempt rattles the post and goes out.

David @Twitter: "Jesus wept."

😫33': Big chance! Malard swings in a great cross to the back post for Geyse, who can't connect her shot properly.

Lion-o @Twitter: "We have not really looked all that good so far, hopefully this is a wake up call/kick up the behind.... Get beat today, & it REALLY puts us on the back foot for a top 3 place...."

🤦‍♂️30': Goal. Brighton take the lead. A cross is deflected into the box to Elizabeth Terland, who blasts a shot into the back of the net.

ScottMUFC @Twitter: "What defending was that now."

💪20'-25': Earps has been in great form today, as she makes another sharp save to deny the hosts the lead.

Lion-o @Twitter: "Brighton have definitely started the game better..... Just a tad worrying...."

🤐15'-20': Brighton are piling the pressure and force a save from Earps. Soon after that, Bremer also hits the post when her cross/shot almost catches the keeper out.

Brenda Daisy @Twitter: "I would be interested to see toones pass accuracy. Seems awful."

10'-15': Brighton have gotten some more control into the game after a poor start. Maya Le Tessier is also booked harshly.

K.B @Twitter: "Var should be implemented in the women’s league soonest."

😠3'-10': Man United are denied an apparent penalty after a handball from a Brighton player in the box isn't seen by the referee. No VAR here.

ThomasStensland @Twitter: "Yet another penalty NOT given to @ManUtdWomen there. It's just about every single game now."

1'-3': Exciting start from Man United. Melvine Malard brings the ball down nicely in the box and lets rip a shot that is saved well by Baggaley.

Garnachhy @Twitter: "Toone masterclass today pls."

🔥1': KICKOFF! Man United get the game started and will attack from the left to right in the first half. Let's go!

🤐Kick-off has been delayed for around 10 minutes due to an issue in the ground. It'll kick-off at 18:55 GMT now.

RedReveal @Twitter: "10-minute delay to kick-off. Think I just heard them say the ambulance is stuck in traffic."

👍Man United have been boosted by the return of influential forward Leah Galton, who missed the last game due to a problem. She scored 10 goals in 20 WSL matches last season.
