'He would've been as good as Bale': Man United's gem was tipped to be best in the world 'before he f * * * * * * off'

Does anyone remember Ravel Morrison? The academy graduate was one of Man United's most promising starlets in 2010-11 but something went wrong: the Reds refused to extend his deal and offloaded him to West Ham and ever since, his entire career was basically one loan spell after another.

"Ravel Morrison was the best player I've ever seen," former West Ham centre-back James Collins told West Ham Fan TV on YouTube. "The boy was an absolute joke, honestly. I'm gutted that you all didn't get to see him more than you did because that boy should have been the best player in the world.

"He was ridiculous. Giggs, Bale, he would have been on a level with them boys. The club had a bit of trouble with him, he wouldn't turn up for training.

"So he scored the goal [against Tottenham], won the game. Me, Kev Nolan, Mark Noble, had him at the back of the bus and gone 'Right Rav, this is you now, keep it going', sort of thing.

"[Next] we train on Christmas day to play Arsenal on the Boxing Day. We were in training, sitting on the bus at Upton Park. He just didn't turn up! So we thought we had him, and he was in, and his head was straight. And then he just f***ed off."
