Former Man City defender Benjamin Mendy has been receiving widespread support from the football world after he was acquitted of the rape charges against him.
Mendy was accused of raping as many as nine women, but a judge found him not guilty of the accusations after a lengthy trial.
A number of ex-Man United players have also shown him support – including his French teammate Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman posted a picture of him face-timing Mendy and the two enjoying his ‘victory’.
Memphis Depay did one better by posting a lengthy statement on Instagram. He asked questions on what justice Mendy can expect after this and urged everyone to pray for him to mentally recover quickly.
His statement received agreement from many prominent stars, including ex-Man United captain Rio Ferdinand – who commented: “Loud and clear.”
