"It’s not until I’m in the ambulance that I realise I had been dead. I’m thinking, ‘Keep my boots, I won’t play again’. I tell my fiancée Sabrina the same — ‘I’m not going to play again, no way'." 

Eriksen has made a sensational return to football since then. Serie A rules do not permit players with pacemakers to be part of the competition. 

That led to his exit from Milan and subsequent arrival at Old Trafford earlier this year. He's scored once and assisted six more for United in 20 games across competitions. 

And now, Eriksen is ready to represent Denmark in the

, captains of several countries united to state they will wear the One Love armbands to promote inclusivity and the LGBTQ+ community. 

However, the Football Associations of England, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Wales have confirmed they've told their captains not to wear the armbands.

"We can't put our players in a position where they could face sporting sanctions, including bookings," the joint statement reads.

"We're very frustrated by the Fifa decision which we believe is unprecedented. We wrote to Fifa in September informing them of our wish to wear the OneLove armband to actively support inclusion in football, and had no response.

"Our players and coaches are disappointed."
