Ranking Man United forwards from worst to best ahead of 2022/23 campaign

As things stand right now, Manchester United are heading into the 2022/23 campaign with nine first-team forwards on their books.

As subjective as these ratings usually get, we have tried to rank all of Erik ten Hag's attacking options for his first season at Old Trafford.

Worst

Chong will be 23 in December and a series of unsuccessful loan spells have shown that the Dutchman doesn't have what it takes to play at the top level.

Average but can still improve

Martial is enjoying a stellar pre-season campaign under Ten Hag but it's too early to suggest that the Frenchman is back to his best. The 26-year-old's attitude has let him — and Man United — down too many times in the past.

Rashford has scored twice in two pre-season games but it will take a lore more goals in official matches for the Englishman to restore his credibility after the disastrous 2022/23 season.

20-year-old Elanga is already a regular for Sweden but Ten Hag doesn't appear to rate the winger highly. A loan spell next season could be on the cards for the Academy graduate.

Garnacho is somewhat of an enigma, making his Argentina debut before a single first-team appearance for Man United. The 18-year-old could be a great player in the making and he's someone to keep an eye on for sure.

Ten Hag opted not to include Shoretire in his pre-season squad but the 18-year-old remains a potential future talent as evident by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's trust in the young forward.

Good

Sancho has taken his time adapting to life in the Premier League but the 22-year-old appears to be ready to become a key player for Man United and win back his England place ahead of the World Cup.

Many Man United coaches backed Greenwood to become one of the best Academy graduates in the history of the club but the 20-year-old remains suspended pending an outcome of a rape case.

Best

Although he's currently pushing to leave Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo remains the only world-class forward at Man United. The Red Devils will sure miss the Portuguese's goals if he gets his wish and finds himself a new club this summer.
