Portugal qualify for 2022 World Cup thanks to Bruno Fernandes' brace

Portugal are through to the 2022 World Cup after beating North Macedonia 2–0 on Wednesday at the Estadio do Dragao.

Bruno Fernandes scored both goals for the Euro 2016 winners with Cristiano Ronaldo providing an assist for the opener in the first half.

Portugal beat Turkey 3–1 last week to secure their place in the playoffs final with North Macedonia shockingly beating reigning Euro champions Italy 1–0.

Manchester United will now be hoping that their Portuguese players carry their form into Saturday when the Red Devils face Leicester City in the Premier League at home.
