Taking to Instagram to react to Ivory Coast’s elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations, Eric Bailly wrote: “Painful elimination from the Africa Cup on Nations. I am at a loss of words to describe my disappointment and disillusionment.
“Proud and grateful to have been able to compete in this competition surrounded by such a great team. Thanks to the supporters for being with us
“We will rise again. The one who is the one is the best.”
Bailly had a dramatic game against Egypt in the Round of 16 clash, producing an impressive defensive showing but then missed a crucial penalty in the penalty shootout – leading to his side’s elimination.
The centre-back should now return to Man United and could be available for the Red Devils’ games after the winter break.
