Another one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's guard has followed in the Norwegian's footsteps by leaving 

Kieran McKenna has left Old Trafford to become the new manager at 

, it was officially announced by the two clubs on Thursday.

First-team coach Martyn Pert is also leaving the club and will be working as McKenna's assistant manager at Ipswich, who are currently 12th in the League One table.

35-year-old McKenna joined Man United in 2016, working as an Under-18s coach before being promoted to the first team in 2018 by Jose Mourinho. McKenna then became one of the assistant managers under Solskjaer.

Carrick: 'It won't be very long before you see me and Ole in the away end'

“I promised my family when I was playing that after I'd finished playing, because you put so much into it, that I'd retire and we'd have a bit of time together. It never happened, I came straight into coaching. Just in kind of recent days, it's just that feeling that the timing's right, it feels right.

“It's not been easy to make the decision in that respect but in terms of family and, how I feel right now, I'm really content and happy and looking forward to what's ahead.”

Carrick will be stepping down from his first-team coaching role and leaving the club completely, it was announced after the 3–2 win against
