Solskjaer accepts penalty retake call but refuses to agree with initial decision to award one

“For me, it is not a penalty, it is very harsh. Then it is a great save by David and then a very harsh decision against him," Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

"It is probably the right one if you follow the rules, because his foot is probably one inch off the line, with his heel, but who knows what would have happened. That is not the decision that lost us the game."

Manchester United have lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in their first game of the Premier League campaign. In the second half, the Eagles, who were 1-0 ahead, earned quite a controversial penalty as Jordan Ayew's shot hit Victor Lindelof hand in the Reds' box.

David De Gea saved Ayew's shot from the spot; however, the goalkeeper stepped off the line for a few millimetres, violating the rules. Martin Atkinson called for the penalty to be retaken and Wilfried Zaha converted.
