Juventus players and head coach Maurizio Sarri forgo salaries for 4 months

Juventus players have agreed to waive four months' wages due to the coronavirus pandemic. This move will save the Serie A champions €90m.

Everyone, from Maurizio Sarri to Cristiano Ronaldo, has his wages for March, April, May, June waived.

The club said it "reached an understanding with the players and the coach of the first team regarding their compensation for the residual portion of the current sport season.

"In the coming weeks, personal agreements with the players and the coach will be finalised, as required by the current regulations. Should the current season’s matches be rescheduled, the club will negotiate in good faith with the players and the coach conditional increases of compensations according to the actual resumption and finalisation of official competitions."

Juventus have had three players – Daniele Rugani, Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala – testing positive for coronavirus while Italy continues to be the country with the highest mortality rate from the virus.

The death toll in Italy has passed 10,000 (10,023 at the moment of writing) which is the highest in the world.
